Peru qualified for Russia via a playoff against New Zealand after finishing fifth in the notoriously tough South American qualifying process.

They are currently third favourite to progess from their World Cup group behind France and Denmark but ahead of Australia.

Talismanic striker Paolo Guerrero will be absent from their squad, after being banned for cocaine use until 2019.

The captains of France, Denmark and Australia banded together to pen a letter in support for Guerrero to have the ban lifted so he could participate in Russia.

Peru will play friendlies against Scotland, Saudi Arabia and Sweden before beginning their World Cup with a match against Denmark on June 16 in Saransk.
