David Beckham is ready to collect the winnings of a bizarre England versus Sweden bet with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the LA Galaxy star heading to Wembley for fish and chips.
Ibrahimovic was the one to float the idea, with the enigmatic Swede eager to see his countrymen get one over on the Three Lions.
He vowed to take ex-England skipper Beckham out for a meal at any restaurant in the world if he found himself on the losing side.
That promise was countered by the request that he could pick any item he wanted from Ikea if the Three Lions came unstuck.
Gareth Southgate’s side were to emerge victorious on Saturday, with Harry Maguire and Dele Alli getting the goals in a 2-0 win.
As they march forward to the semi-finals, Beckham can start readying himself for a trip to London with Ibrahimovic.
He dictated that the 36-year-old had to join him at an England game, wearing an England shirt and indulge in an English delicacy at the interval.
Ibrahimovic posted a message to Beckham via Instagram to indicate that he would make good on the wager, saying, "I'm coming" and also expressed his enormous admiration for the players in reach the quarter-finals.
"Every player should get a golden ball in Sweden," he tweeted. "What they did will be remembered forever. Thank you for the show."
The Three Lions are due to open their UEFA Nations League campaign that evening against Spain.
They then have a friendly date to take in with the U.S. national team on home soil on November 15.
For now, though, their focus remains locked on events in Russia, having reached their first World Cup semi-final since 1990.
