Juventus ‘optimistic’ over Can signing

Juventus are confident that they will be able to wrap up the signing of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can imminently.

The Germany international, who missed the cut for his nation’s World Cup squad, is out of contract with the Anfield club at the end of the season and has long been linked with a move to the Turin side.

Goal reported on Thursday that a five-year deal is close to being agreed and now Juve CEO Beppe Marotta has admitted that the move is close to coming to fruition.

“We are optimistic about the positive end of negotiations with Emre Can,” he told Mediaset Premium. “We hope to announce his signing after the Champions League final.”

The 24-year-old midfielder is hopeful of featuring for the Reds in Kiev, despite his impending departure and a back injury that has kept him sidelined since he was withdrawn in the midst of a 5-0 win over Watford in the Premier League.

He has travelled with Jurgen Klopp’s squad to Marbella for their training camp for that clash.

Can, who has played 37 times for the Reds this season, scoring six goals and creating five more in the process, joined Liverpool in the summer of 2014 when he made a move from Bayer Leverkusen, having started his professional career with Bayern Munich.

Naby Keita will join Liverpool from RB Leipzig on July 1 to fill the spot vacated by Can.
