Premier League Betting: Sergio Aguero Golden Boot odds cut after Community Shield double

Sergio Aguero has been cut to 6/1 (7.0) to win the Premier League Golden Boot after his brace against Chelsea in the Community Shield.

The Argentine striker, who netted for the 200th time in Manchester City colours with his first goal against the Blues, was previously 8/1 (9.0) with bet365.

Aguero has only won the award once, despite scoring 20 or more league goals in five of his seven seasons in England including each of his last four, and his performance at Wembley has led punters to believe he can double his tally.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “A fit Aguero is a proven prolific marksman and we saw enough interest in him during the Community Shield to go 6/1 from 8/1.”

The 30-year-old has 143 Premier League goals for City, the 12th most of all time, and his 21 strikes in just 25 matches last season in the tournament shows he always remains a threat.

Another 20-goal season certainly seems likely, given his side’s penchant for scoring thanks to the creativity of players like Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane.

As well, bet365 also offer 9/4 (3.25) that Aguero scores between 20 and 24 goals this season and that may prove profitable considering that bet would have landed in each of the last three campaigns.

Of course, the emergence of Gabriel Jesus may somewhat hinder Aguero’s production, and the online bookmaker are also 7/4 (2.75) about the latter scoring between 15 and 19 times.

Nine goals or fewer can be backed at 12/1 (13.0), 10 to 14 is 10/3 (4.33) and 25 or more – a figure he has only achieved once in his entire career – is 6/1 (7.0).
