AFC Asian Cup: India's 34-man probable squad

Indian national team head coach Stephen Constantine has called up a 34-member probable squad for the upcoming 2019 AFC Asian Cup which will be held in January in UAE. 

The notable call-ups to the squad include Kerala Blasters midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad who has impressed with his displays in the Indian Super League and former India U-17 winger Komal Thatal who has done well for ATK. 

Of the 34-member squad, 28 players are set to travel to the UAE on December 20 for the tournament which will kick-start on January 6, 2019. The squad will be trimmed further and a final 23-man list is expected to be announced later.

Kerala Blasters have the maximum presentation in the current list, with five players being called up. Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennaiyin, Pune and ATK have four players each in the list. East Bengal defender Salam Ranjan Singh is the lone player from an I-League club. 

India's Group A opponents are Bahrain, UAE and Thailand. The Blue Tigers will play their first match of the campaign against Thailand at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Goalkeepers: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh, Arindam Bhattacharya, Vishal Kaith. 

Defenders: Pritam Kotal, Sarthak Golui, Sandesh Jhingan, Anas Edathodika, Salam Ranjan Singh, Subhasish Bose, Narayan Das, Nishu Kumar, Lalruatthara, Jerry Lalrinzuala.

Midfielders: Udanta Singh, Nikhil Poojary, Pronay Halder, Rowllin Borges, Anirudh Thapa, Vinit Rai, Halicharan Narzary, Ashique Kuruniyan, Germanpreet Singh, Bikash Jairu, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Sahal Samad, Komal Thatal, Jackichand Singh. 

Forwards: Sunil Chhetri, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Sumeet Passi, Farukh Choudhary, Balwant Singh, Manvir Singh.
