Harambee Starlets finish a disappointing fourth in Cecafa championship

Kenya finished a distant fourth in the five-nation of the 2018 Cecafa Women Championships that wrapped up on Friday in Rwanda.

Harambee Starlets, who came second in the last edition, had a poor run this time around that saw the pick just a single victory.

Kenya's only win came on the last day against hosts Rwanda on Friday.

The Kenyan girls had a poor outing in Rwanda, winning just one of their four games and losing twice; against Uganda and Ethiopia before settling for a point in a 1-1 draw against Tanzania.

Mercy Achieng and Terry Engesha were on target for the Starlets in the victory over Rwanda to help David Ouma side to a fourth-place finish with four points.

Tanzania successfully defended the title thanks to a superior goal difference that saw them finish above Uganda with both teams tied on seven points.

The team is set to jet back in the country on Saturday with the focus now shifting to the FKF Women Premier League.

Ethiopia finished third with six points while host Rwanda came last.
