Kuala Lumpur and UiTM became the fourth and fifth teams from the Premier League to qualify for the 2017 Malaysia Cup competition after the completion of the final fixtures in the first half of the season.
They join Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu and PKNP FC who have already booked their passage into the Malaysia Cup earlier and are currently sitting in the top three position on the league.
With only the top five spots guaranteeing qualification, Kuala Lumpur secured theirs after defeating MISC-MIFA 2-1 through goals scored by Modibo Konte and Guilherme de Paula while Akanni Sunday's late equaliser gained the all important point against PKNP.
Which 3 teams could join NS and Terengganu in the 2017 Malaysia Cup?
Before the start of the fixtures, Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDTII) still had a good chance of making the cut had they achieve a good result in their own match. However, Terengganu had other ideas and handed JDTII their first defeat of the season with a 1-2 win.
The only other team who was still in contention prior to kick-off was PDRM. However, they needed both Kuala Lumpur and UiTM to drop points and it proved to be a tall order. Despite producing a good performance in Kota Kinabalu to defeat Sabah 1-3, PDRM fell short of making the Malaysia Cup.
These five teams joins the 10 others from the Super League in the draw for the Malaysia Cup that is scheduled to start in July.
