During the clash, however, they lost Tchouameni in the 69th minute and he could be a doubt for the final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The 24-year-old midfielder suffered a stress injury to his left foot as per <a href="https://www.realmadrid.com/es-ES/noticias/futbol/primer-equipo/partes-medicos/parte-medico-de-tchouameni-09-05-2024" target="_blank">Real Madrid's official announcement</a>. He had suffered a similar injury at the start of the season, and it is yet to be cleared up if it is the same injury that has caused trouble yet again to the French midfielder. As per reports, Madrid believe that the midfielder will be guaranteed to return for France's European Championship campaign this summer.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

As per <a href="https://theathletic.com/5482054/2024/05/09/aurelien-tchouameni-injury-real-madrid/" target="_blank">The Athletic</a>, Real Madrid currently fear that there is only a 20 per cent chance that Tchouameni could return to full fitness before the Champions League final. If that is the case, Eduardo Camavinga will likely become Carlo Ancelotti's option to play as the pivot during the final.
