According to <a href="https://twitter.com/cfbayern/status/1787900800531915080" target="_blank">BILD</a>, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl held talks with the team management over the possibility of appointing Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag as their next head coach, however, the board have now come to the conclusion that they are no longer interested in the Dutchman.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Earlier this week <a href="https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/40093169/ten-hag-wants-man-united-stay-bayern-munich-move-sources" target="_blank">ESPN</a> reported that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/erik-ten-hag-preference-revealed-bayern-munich-contact-man-utd-manager/bltda813d205754d53e#cs3bec6438a21bae70" target="_blank">Ten Hag had informed the Bundesliga club</a> that his preference is to remain at Old Trafford until the end of the 2024/25 season when his contract with the Premier League giants expires.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Bavarian club have struggled to finalise a successor to Tuchel. Xabi Alonso pledged his allegiance to Bayer Leverkusen, while <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-julian-nagelsmann-germany-contract-decision-harry-kane/blt0be30599e6a2d231" target="_blank">Julian Nagelsmann signed an extension</a> to continue as Germany national team coach after talks had taken place. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-search-new-coach-man-utd-ralf-rangnick-latest-reject-thomas-tuchel/blt630d0a55e26916eb" target="_blank">Ralf Rangnick decided to turn down their advances too</a>.

For now, the 54-year-old remains focused on ending the current campaign on a high as United look to win their maiden trophy of the season on May 25 when they take on rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
