Wednesday, Vancouver was announced as one of the two cities which would receive a Major League Soccer expansion team in 2011. Already, the city has sold out its initial batch of 5,000 ticket deposits.
"The response we have received from the community has been phenomenal," said Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi. "We sold 5,000 deposits in less than 48 hours and our season tickets for the upcoming season continue to sell at an unprecedented pace."
Shortly, another wave of 5,000 will be accepted, with current USL-1 Vancouver season ticket holders first in line, and those on a waitlist next.
Season tickets will be capped at 16,500, and require a $50 deposit.
