Nothing changed as no side bothered to score.
Morelia and Pumas finished 0-0 at Estadio Morelos on Sunday. The draw kept Morelia at the top spot of the group table and assured that the club will claim the top spot in the league with a win in their finale against Monterrey, provided Toluca do not rout Puebla. At plus-16, Morelia have a better goal differential than Toluca, who are at plus-11.
Pumas, meanwhile, remained at the bottom of the Group 3 table, mired on 16 points with a 4-8-4 record.
Each side came out aggressively as both teams looked to score early on. Miguel Sabah nearly opened the score for Morelia but his open shot in front of the goal went high in the first minute of play.
Pablo Barrera connected with Leandro Augusto in the eighth minute but Moises Muñoz turned Augusto away from close range.
Morelia's best chance of the second half came in the 61st minute when Hugo Droguett was unmarked but his poor marksmanship kept him from placing a shot on goal.
Estudiantes 2, Queretaro 0
So much for Queretaro's run.
Entering Sunday, los Gallos Blancos had an attractive run going with four wins in their last five but Estudiantes tore that apart.
Mauro Cejas scored in teh second minute of play to demoralize the hosts while Carlos Morales scored in second-half stoppage time to kill the game off.
Neither side have any possibilities of reaching the postseason.
