Eredivisie Round-Up: Pantelic On Fire For Ajax
Ajax recorded a comfortable 5-1 away win against Vitesse, while PSV and Twente picked up the full three points, too.

Sparta 2-3 PSV
PSV started the match the better side of the two and opened the score after thirteen minutes. Balazs Dzsudzsak swung in a cross and Serbian forward Danko Lazovic headed home the opener. Sparta weren’t too impressed though and young striker Rydell Poepon drew things level with a calm finish from close range. Once again Poepon even gifted the hosts the lead after the break following a superb pass from Darko Bodul. Nevertheless, Brazilian youngster Jonathan Reis scored the equalizer with twenty more minutes to play. The Eindhoven giants didn’t stop attacking and Dzsudzsak helped PSV to an important win with a right footed shot from inside the area.
AZ 2-0 VVV
The reigning champions were without Moussa Dembele and Mounir el Hamdaoui, but Jeremain Lens stepped up to guide AZ to a home victory. Niklas Moisander set up Lens with a nice long pass and the quick attacker went by his opponent before he clinically finished from close range. The VVV defence was unable to cope with Lens and the attacker provided the assist for Brett Holman’s goal minutes after the break to help AZ to victory.
Heracles 3-2 Roda
The Almelo side had lost their previous two league games, but never looked like losing this Saturday. Miscommunication between Davy de Fauw and Bram Castro led to an easy chance for Heracles hitman Everton and the striker duly converted. Towering forward Bas Dost doubled the lead for the Almelo side minutes before the interval after good work from Darl Douglas. Willy Overtoom made things even worse for Roda when he made it three for Heracles halfway the second half. Mads Junker handed Roda a lifeline with his goal in the 82nd minute and Pa Modou-Kah even scored the 3-2, but it was too little, too late to salvage a draw.
Heerenveen 3-1 RKC
The home side started the match with attacking intentions and were rewarded with the opener after 39 minutes of play. Kristian Bak Nielsen set up Viktor Elm and the Swedish midfielder had no trouble finding the net. Elm doubled his tally minutes after the break following yet another assist from Bak Nielsen and the midfielder should have grabbed his hattrick at the hour mark. However, Elm missed a spot kick and RKC got themselves back in the match with ten more minutes to go. Fred Benson headed the 2-1 against the back of the net. However, Roy Beerens killed off the game with a superb finish in the dying minutes of the match.
Willem II 1-3 Twente
The away side started the game brilliantly and holding midfielder Wout Brama gifted Twente the lead with a placed shot from 20 yards out. Willem II fought back though and Christophe Gregoire scored the equalizer after fifteen minutes when he converted a spot kick. A powerful shot from Slovakian winger Miroslav Stoch restored Twente’s lead though and Willem II were unable to bounce back again. Star player Bryan Ruiz eventually decided the game with a superb shot from inside the box to make it three for the table toppers.
Vitesse 1-5 Ajax
Vitesse made a bright start to Sunday’s game and picked up an early lead via Dalibor Stevanovic. However, they were dealt a huge blow minutes later when shot stopper Piet Velthuizen was forced to leave the pitch due to injury. Serbian hitman Marko Pantelic levelled the score with a good header after fourteen minutes and Pantelic scored his second minutes later after a cross from Vurnon Anita. Vitesse were denied a spot kick after Toby Alderweireld handled the ball minutes before the interval. Pantelic grabbed his hattrick in the second half before being substituted for Kennedy Bakircioglu, who found the net within minutes after being introduced. Young playmaker Ismail Aissati scored the 5-1 with twenty more minutes to go, when he beat the Vitesse shot stopper with a placed shot.
ADO Den Haag 0-2 Feyenoord
Feyenoord failed to impress in Den Haag, but still managed to record a solid win. Highly rated defender Ron Vlaar helped the Rotterdam side to the lead with a powerful header after a corner kick from Luigi Bruins. ADO thought to have equalized via Yuri Cornelisse, but the attacker saw his goal disallowed for offside. Quick attacker Andwele Slory decided the game in the final seconds of the match when he hit ADO on the counter attack.
Utrecht 3-1 NAC
Both sides struggled before the interval, but Utrecht made a superb start to the second half. Belgian attacker Kevin Vandenbergh scored his first goal of the season around the hour mark after a good pass from Dries Mertens. Gianluca Nijholt doubled Utrecht’s lead only minutes later when he beat the NAC goalie with a superb free kick. Matthew Amoah pegged one back for the Breda outfit, but they failed to score a second. Versatile forward Jacob Mulenga scored the 3-1 well into stoppage time to add to NAC’s misery.
Groningen 2-2 NEC
The home side started the match the better side of the two and picked up an early lead. Goran Lovre set up Tim Matavz and the young attacker slotted home from close range to make it 1-0. However, NEC drew things level from out of nowhere when Bjorn Vleminckx beat his marker to the ball before heading the ball past the Groningen shot stopper. The Nijmegen side even picked up the lead in the second half. The referee opted to award NEC a spot kick and Youssef el Akchaoui had no trouble finding the net from twelve yards. However, Groningen did not give up and Danish forward Nicklas Pedersen scored the equalizer after good work from Gonzalo Garcia-Garcia.
