Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to challenge Inter and Jose Mourinho's resolve by attempting to swoop for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.
Towards the end of the season the striker had made some noise about leaving the San Siro, but recent developments around the transfer market suggested he would be staying. Proposed moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid have been scuppered as the Blaugrana are keen on David Villa, while Los Merengues signed Karim Benzema.
With few options available, the belief in Italy was that he would stay. However, reports emerging overnight claim 'Ibra' could still leave.
Corriere claims Manchester United are the only alternative to the Swede's stay at the San Siro. The Red Devils sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real, and they have not managed to keep hold of Carlos Tevez. With money to spend, and a striker to replace, Ibrahimovic has been tipped to join them.
However, reports in England and Spain claim United would prefer the younger Sergio Aguero of Atletico Madrid, though that move could hit stumbling blocks as he has a €60 million price tag.
Inter have previously revealed that Ibrahimovic could be sold for the right money.
