Former Milan midfield maestro Rui Costa has described Ronaldinho in one word: "marvellous".

'Dinho' has been pulling the strings for the Rossoneri, and his assist for Alexandre Pato at the weekend against Lazio was extraordinary. Rui Costa believes Ronaldinho will be the key to success this season - if he can stay on form.

"I saw what he did against Lazio. His cross was sublime. There are not many players who can offer goalscoring passes like he can. He is just marvellous," Rui Costa told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"He is a rare case of an assist man who can provide the ball from anywhere."

The former Portugal international, who is a director at Benfica, believes Ronaldinho has grasped the nettle of good form under Leonardo's expert guidance.

"Leonardo has done well to help recover Ronaldinho for the good of Milan, and for world football. We must not forget that he is a former Ballon d'Or winner," added Rui Costa.

However, the spotlight was not directed solely on Ronaldinho. The Portuguese talked of Andrea Pirlo's excellent ball work.

"There is another assist phenomenon who plays for Milan, and he is Pirlo. No-one can play the ball to feet like he can. I am one of his biggest fans," concluded the former Fiorentina man.
