However, Real Madrid have announced that Ronaldo is no closer to a return to first team action and must continue treatment until further scans show that his ankle has fully healed.
A statement on the club's official website read:
"After examining the evolution of Cristiano Ronaldo's injury today, it was determined that there has been no clinical improvement of the bone edema in the center of his right ankle.
"The player cannot, therefore, begin training and must continue treatment and relief work until another examination is carried out."
Ronaldo's recuperation from a sprained ankle has been complicated by the continuing presence of a bone edema on the talus bone in his right foot. He will now travel to Amsterdam in order to continue his recovery program with ankle specialist Dr. Niek van Dijk.
