'It's not good enough' - Mamelodi Sundowns legend Hlompho Kekana unhappy with underperforming Thembinkosi Lorch

Sundowns endured a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/caf-champions-league-mamelodi-sundowns-suffer-semi-final-first-leg-setback-in-loss-to-esperance-away-in-tunisia/blt483f442d92d0c375#" target="_blank">1-0 loss against Esperance</a> in Tunisia on Saturday, April 20th, despite several missed opportunities throughout the match. One notable chance fell to Thembinkosi Lorch just after halftime, but he couldn't capitalize.Since joining the Brazilians in January, Lorch has been adjusting to the club and has faced criticism for his missed chances. Former Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has now weighed in on the matter, offering his perspective.

WHAT HAPPENED?

“If you recall, Lorch got the same chance against Yanga, where he missed from there,” he said on SABC Sport. “Against Swallows, he got a chance and missed again. I’m counting all these chances because I don’t think he’s confident enough in front of goal since he joined Mamelodi Sundowns.“He’s got two goals and that’s not good enough for a player like Lorch,” he concluded.&nbsp;

WHAT KEKAKA SAID?

Known as "Nyoso" in local football circles, the player has showcased his skills for Sundowns across various competitions including the Premier Soccer League, Caf Champions League and Nedbank Cup.Currently, he has scored two goals in the Nedbank Cup and one in the Caf Champions League. However, according to Kekana, he should be delivering more than what he has accomplished thus far.

As Lorch looks to further integrate into Sundowns’ system, he will be eager to contribute to the team's success as they strive to finish the 2023/24 season strongly. Their next challenge awaits in the Premier Soccer League when they face Sekhukhune United on Tuesday, April 23rd and later in the week when they host Esperance in the Caf Champions League semi-final second-leg at Loftus Versfeld on Friday, April 26th.
