Siyabonga Ngezana reveals how it feels to win first career silverware - 'I did not win anything with Kaizer Chiefs, this feeling is unmatched'

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana has expressed his joy following a huge achievement in the Romanian Super Liga with FCSB.&nbsp;The Kaizer Chiefs product <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/lists/siyabonga-ngezana-fcsb-defender-wins-romanian-superliga-title-and-grabs-uefa-champions-league-ticket/blt30cdfa6c850c82ea" target="_blank">won his first career major silverware </a>with the Romanian side last weekend.&nbsp;Reflecting on the achievement, Ngezana admitted leaving Amakhosi for FCSB made him realise how important it is to win trophies.&nbsp;

WHAT HAPPENED?

“The feeling is unmatched. I can’t even put it into words more, especially since it’s my first season in Europe. So, to me, it means a lot and it’s my first title in my football career,”<a href="https://farpost.co.za/2024/05/02/siyabonga-ngezana-opens-up-about-winning-first-major-trophy-with-fcsb/" target="_blank"> Ngezana told FARPost.</a>“It took a lot of sacrifices, you know. I was demanding more from myself, especially since I have never won any major title in my career.“I have been with my former team [Kaizer Chiefs] for a long time and I didn’t win anything. So, to me, it demanded more from me. I mean, what career would I have without something to show for it," he continued.&nbsp;“It took for me to realise that one day you will leave football but you need to leave something of a legacy that you will be remembered for in this game of football.“This is a short career, and you are just here for a moment. So, in that moment I have to do the most and try to win as a team, not necessarily as an individual.”

WHAT NGEZANA SAID

The Sebokeng-born defender was promoted to the Glamour Boys' first team in the 2016/17 season, and since then he has not won any major trophy until he left.The centre-back<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-za/news/siyabonga-ngezana-kaizer-chiefs-confirm-defender-s-move-to-romanian-outfit-fotbal-club-fcsb/blt3dde1c9311053e91#" target="_blank"> joined the Bucharest-based club from the Soweto giants </a>at the start of the 2023/24 season and went on to make 30 appearances with one assist.&nbsp;His performance caught Hugo Broos' eye as he called him for the recent Bafana Bafana friendlies against Algeria and Andorra, however, he did not make it due to reported travel documents issues.&nbsp;

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The South African will be hoping to make it into the Bafana squad for the upcoming Fifa World Cup qualifier games against Zimbabwe and Nigeria in June.&nbsp;&nbsp;Following the achievement with the Romanian side, Ngezana and his side will play in the Uefa Champions League next season.&nbsp;
