Formation: 3-4-3
Goalkeeper
Albano Bizzarri (Catania): The Sicilian team’s goalkeeper saved Goran Pandev’s penalty and also made excellent stops on Lichtsteiner, Ledesma and Rocchi during the match.
Defence
Matteo Ferrari (Genoa): The former Roma and Inter player showed his experience with a classy display against Udinese, helping Genoa continue their fairytale season.
Alessandro Gamberini (Fiorentina): He had a great duel with Siena striker Maccarone and was able to clean up his team-mates' mistakes. An excellent showing by the defender as his team held on for a 1-0 victory.
Salvatore Bocchetti (Genoa): Like his fellow defender Ferrari, he was able to quell the offensive threat posed by Udinese and has been rewarded with his first call-up to the Italian national team.
Midfield
Fabio Caserta (Lecce): Scoring at both the beginning and end of the match, he was a danger in between as well. The veteran player ensured a vital point for his side in their battle against relegation.
Esteban Cambiasso (Inter): His timing was - as per usual - excellent, whether moving forward to score the Nerazzurri’s opener or anticipating Reggina’s attackers.
Simone Padoin (Atalanta): The 25-year-old also grabbed a brace, one a superb strike from 20 metres out. He punished the Giallorossi’s mistakes.
Daniele Mannini (Napoli): With his one-year suspension under review, the wing-back returned to the line-up very hungry and was a huge threat on the wing. Won his battle with Zambrotta and was busy both offensively and defensively.
Attack
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter): ‘Ibracadabra’ lived up to his name by producing a piece of magic to score the third goal, lobbing the Reggina goalkeeper from outside the box. The Swede is now tied for top scorer in the league with Di Vaio.
Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus): He is the in-form Bianconeri striker and scored a well-taken double against his former coach Luciano Spalletti. His call-up to the national team is well-deserved.
Antonio Cassano (Sampdoria): The Blucerchiati talisman makes it into the team for the second consecutive week, earning his place with a goal and an assist. However, his great form is still not enough to convince Marcello Lippi, who left him out of the national team set-up once again.
