Roma's 3-2 victory against Milan, coupled with Palermo’s inability to get past Atalanta, meant the Rosanero finally saw their European dreams go up in smoke for another season.
Speaking to SkyItalia in the post-match interview, club coach Davide Ballardini admitted his side are still lacking that certain somethingthat would allow them to compete for the European slots.
“We played well today, in a difficult battle away from home. It is just a shame that Roma won in the San Siro against Milan. Although I didn’t expect that result in Milan, Roma have the capabilities to win anywhere," he stated.
“Overall, I am happy with the great season we have had in terms of points and quality of play. Today, we played some great football and we created numerous goal-scoring chances. The only negative is the fact that we didn’t see off the game, but it has to be said that Atalanta are a side that never give in.”
With the Palermo coach obviously a little disappointed following the failure to reach the European objective, he concluded, “We are still missing something with regards to Europe. The club has been discussing how to resolve this but it is too early to declare our plans to the press.”
