Milan have won three matches in succession, after accounting for Chievo 2-1 in Verona earlier tonight. A late brace to Alessandro Nesta proved to be the difference on the night, allowing the Rossoneri to consolidate their spot in the top half of the standings.

The victory comes after two recent triumphs over Roma and Real Madrid respectively, and the hero on the night, Nesta, believes that this is the form that his side need to maintain and continue.

“It’s a new thing for me to score two goals, but what counts is that these two goals have been significant. I’m very happy,” Nesta stressed in an interview with Sky.

“In Bergamo [in a 1-1 draw with Atalanta], we were told that we attacked too heavily, but I guess the way we played tonight is the right way.

“We have players who, for their characteristics, are born to attack. Tonight we unfortunately conceded a goal after a few minutes, but reversed this trend, and we must continue to do this.”

The in-form defender concluded by making a couple of comments in regards to a potential return to the international scene.

He continued, "My return to international football? I won’t come back, not because I don’t want to, but because it puts stress on my body.

“I know what people have been saying, but I know that [Marcello] Lippi understands where I am coming from, so I look forward to cheering for Italy in South Africa,” he concluded.
