The Champions League clash between Dynamo Kiev and Inter could be played behind closed doors as the city's mayor, Leonid Cernovetskyi, has urged fans to stay at home.

UEFA confirmed the game would go ahead despite a swine flu outbreak in the Ukraine, which had raised suggestions of a postponement.

However, local authorities appear reluctant to stage the fixture and are telling fans to watch the game on television in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus.

"I think that an appeal should be made to the population so that fans do not come to the stadium," the mayor is quoted as saying in La Repubblica.

As things stand, 90 per cent of the tickets for the match have been sold, and thus a full house is expected.

Inter are scheduled to travel to the Ukraine on Tuesday. They will be without Sulley Muntari, Wesley Sneijder and Tiago Motta who are all injured.
