Former Napoli, and now Torino coach Walter Novellino insists that Partenopei forward Fabio Quagliarella should not be played as an out-and-out striker, but with someone just ahead of him.

Novellino believes that if someone were to play in front of the 26-year-old, he would be more dangerous and more effective, as they can play off one another.

"Quagliarella is in need of a player who plays in front of him, around which to juggle the ball and help him to hold up the play," Novellino told Radio Goal.

"I am saddened that he has some poor service. It is clear that to complain to team-mates is not a good thing.

"Being from Napoli, Quagliarella is passionate about the guernsey, and wants to demonstrate to all the fans that he can do great things at the club.

"I am convinced that [Napoli coach Walter] Mazzarri will work with him on a psychological level," the Torino boss summed up.

Novellino coached the Azzurri earlier in the decade for one season.
