The defender had already gone under the knife two weeks ago when he fractured bones in his nose during the 2-1 win against Chievo Verona back in week nine. The operation did not keep him out of action as he was back to play against Napoli just days later where he strained a muscle.
Nevertheless, a statement on the club's official website has confirmed the treatment and it reads:
"A.C Milan would like to communicate that Alessandro Nesta underwent surgery to reduce the microfracture of his nasal bones at the Letizia Clinic in Milan. Surgery was carried out by doctor Paolo Marconi and it was a success.
"The player will resume work in three or four days."
The club are thus confident to have their influential defender back for the clash against Cagliari following the international break.
