Thierry Henry's handball in the move that led to France's equaliser in their World Cup play-off against Ireland is causing heated debate in the football world. The latest person to comment on this is Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini.

"It's the same everywhere," he said to Mediagol.it. "Our referees make mistakes, as do the foreign ones. Evidently the referee didn't see Henry's handball, otherwise he would have whistled for it. It was a lucky moment."

Zamparini then came back on a similar episode from some time back that penalised his Palermo team.

"The ideal thing would be if the players themselves, like Henry or [Alberto] Gilardino, who scored like that against us, would tell the referee they touched the ball with the hand, but that never happens," he added. "There isn't this type of culture."
