According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, Toni has reached the point of no return with the German club after falling out with the trainer.
Roma are now favourites to pounce for the Italian. Toni is desperate for regular football in the face of next year's World Cup and his hope is to safeguard a place in South Africa by playing often.
On Monday the player confirmed his intentions to leave the club in an interview with Rai 3, in which he claimed it was over at the Allianz Arena.
"My relationship with the coach is terminated, I want to return to Italy," he said.
That voice of discontent has been echoed by Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger.
"If he doesn't change behaviour then we will consider Luca Toni's exit," said the German.
It is said the Giallorossi are on standby.
