Today he decided the match against Fiorentina with a late penalty, and he is now also the top goalscorer of 2009 in Serie A. Inter striker Diego Milito is continuing to bang in the goals for the Nerazzurri and after today's 1-0 victory he expressed his satisfaction.
"The penalty was clear. I'm happy because we played a great match," he said to Inter Channel. "Perhaps we didn't deserve to suffer so much until the end, but the important thing is that we got the three points.
"I also missed a huge chance, but it's alright like this, we have to look forward. I'm happy to have scored the winning goal."
On being the top scorer of Serie A this year, Milito said, "I'm very happy, but for these goals I also have thank my former Genoa team mates and my current team mates at Inter."
Today's win allowed Inter to move eight points clear on top of the table, although if Milan win tonight in Catania their advantage will be cut to seven points.
