Davide Ballardini is reportedly facing the sack if his charges fail to beat the Lupi. Lazio are winless in three months and just one point off the relegation.
Di Vaio, who developed at Lazio as a youth team player, is confident the club can consign their downfall to the hands of history and make a glorious come back against Roma.
"Lazio have always been in my heart. I always follow them," Di Vaio is quoted as saying on Goal.com Italia.
"I want to sincerely thank the fans for the welcome they have shown me. Lazio are a team who work really hard. Looking at their squad, they do not deserve to be in such a position.
"The fans must not despair though as the Lazio who played against Bologna are more than capable of beating Roma."
