The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners recently, and it has been reported that a deal in the region of €11.4 million (£10m) is close to being agreed.
Fulham's Norway international defender Brede Hangeland and Juventus' Italy international lynchpin Giorgio Chiellini were mentioned as possible recruits for the north London outfit, but it seems neither will be leaving their current employers this summer.
Therefore, Vermaelen appears to have emerged as Arsenal's number one defensive target.
While the 21-time capped Belgium international has no denied that a switch could be on the cards, he is not giving anything away, claiming that his representative handles any such issues.
"Officially I still know nothing," Vermaelen told De Standaard.
"I leave everything to my agent. Personally I have no voice."
