According to TuttoNapoli.net, French sources suggest that Ligue 1 giants Marseille are poised to lodge a formal bid for Napoli centre-forward German Denis.

The 27-year-old only joined the Vesuviani from Independiente last summer in a €6.3 million deal, but endured a difficult time at the San Paolo, failing to hold down a regular starting shirt and netting only nine goals in 37 appearances for the club.

He has stressed his desire to remain in Campania and prove his worth next season, but Napoli are reportedly hoping to cash in on the hitman, who does not seem to appeal to boss Roberto Donadoni.

And Marseille are allegdly prepared to invest €8m to lure the Argentine international to the Stade Velodrome after dropping their interest in Juventus striker David Trezeguet, as coach Didier Deschamps is looking to add to his squad to cope with the Champions League demands.

However, Serie A minnows Bologna have also shown interest in Denis and could offer midfielder Gaby Mudingayi in part-exchange, as the Belgium international is on the Partenopei’s hit-list.
