Valencia are reportedly keen on signing Nikola Kalinic from Hadjuk Split this summer, and he would cost the club around €7 million.
The 21-year-old Croatian is held in high regard and it is thought that Valencia are not the only club interested in securing his services.
Indeed, AS reports that Fernando Gomez has already met with Kalinic's agent and he told the Valencia sporting director that he needs an answer by the end of this week.
Should the Spanish club not make their offer concrete then negotiations will be opened with Zenit St. Petersburg, who are also interested in the forward.
The idea for Valencia is to partner Kalinic up front with David Villa next season as it looks as though they will be short on strikers at the moment.
Nikola Zigic is not expected to stay beyond the summer and Alvaro Negredo now looks to be out of the equation, meaning Kalinic, who is similar in style to Negredo, is the prime target.
Valencia are also after Ikechukwu Uche from Getafe and Javier Camunas from Recreativo Huelva.
Uche has not been in great form since joining the Madrid club but it is thought he would compliment Villa well.
Camunas on the other hand is capable of playing on the flanks and up front, and looks set to leave Recre following their relegation to the Segunda.
