Barcelona have reportedly opened up negotiations with Zenit St. Petersburg to
sign midfielder Danny on loan in the winter transfer window.
According to news stories in Portugal, Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is looking to add some more firepower to his squad, and he has Danny high on his list of targets.
The Portugal international became the most expensive signing in the history of the Russian league when he left Dynamo Moscow for Zenit in the summer of 2008 for a fee of €30 million.
He is currently recovering in his native country from a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season in Russia, but he is considering a January loan spell to get regular action ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.
News daily Record indicates that Barcelona have engaged in talks with Zenit through Danny's agent, Jorge Mendes, and that the Spanish club are willing to pay €5m to secure his services until the end of the season, with a view to make the deal permanent.
