Hristo Stoichkov believes that Cristiano Ronaldo could suffer more and more injuries in Spain and advised Real Madrid to use their homegrown stars more.

The Bulgarian legend is now in charge of South African side Mamelodi Sundowns, but keeps a close eye on events in Spanish football and is not surprised by recent events.

Ronaldo's injury is something that Stoichkov believes he is going to have become accustomed to, as things are different in la Primera in comparison to England.

"He is a great player like Luis Figo was in his day, who scored goals before he went there and then when he was with Madrid," he was quoted as saying by Marca.

"But injuries can kill your game. In England things are nobler, they go for the ball more. In Spain everything is different and you can pay for that."

Stoichkov then joked about Madrid's incredible Copa del Rey reverse against Alcorcon and thinks that Manuel Pellegrini only has two ways of keeping his job.

"I think that they have changed the name of the club to Real Madrid-Alcorcon, no? When I was told the result, I could not believe it. What a defeat," he continued.

"We will have to see what happens with Pellegrini. Coaches do well or badly through with two things; players and results.

"Madrid has plenty of the first and only a few of the latter."

Importing players and coaches at great expense is not something that Stoichkov is a fan of, unless it is combined with use of players from the youth ranks.

"[Real Madrid president Florentino Perez] would do well to look more to the club's youth team, like Barca do," he added.

"Also with the coaches, Camacho lasted a month. The same with Vicente del Bosque. Why does Florentino not count with them as they have been at the club for 20 years."
