The midfielder was due to play in his country's encounter with Ghana but has been told that this will not be possible after tests revealed the extent of his injury.
Keita was injured in Barca's win against Mallorca on Saturday. He had a series of examinations a day later, which showed that he had severely bruised his knee.
He will be unavailable for international duty and will not participate in the Blaugrana's Copa del Rey encounter with Cultura Leonesa in midweek.
