Rafael van der Vaart has reiterated his desire to stay at Real Madrid and become a success amid fresh rumours that he could be set to leave in the winter transfer window.

Having been linked with a move away from the club in the summer the Dutch international remained with Los Merengues and is trying to win a regular place in Manuel Pellegrini's lineup.

After reports suggested Liverpool could make a move for him, other rumours have surfaced about a transfer back to Hamburg in the German media and Van der Vaart swiftly denied such speculation.

"I am going to stay, I will not request a transfer," he told Bild.

"It was not like it should have been in the past but now I am getting to play games and believe I can succeed at Real Madrid.

"This is nothing against Hamburg, the Hamburg fans or the club. They are still very much part of my heart.

"This is a decision in favour of Madrid and not against Hamburg," he concluded.
