Valencia are to appeal the yellow card received by goalkeeper Cesar in their 3-1 win over Osasuna at the Reyno de Navarra in Pamplona on Sunday night.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper was booked for time wasting while taking a goal kick 28 minutes into the game, with his side 2-0 in front. Television replays showed that Cesar was pelted by a missile from the Osasuna supporters behind his goal and while he delayed taking his kick referee Velasco Carballo produced the yellow card.
Cesar protested vehemently to the decision and could have earned a further caution but captain Carlos Marchena intervened.
According to Super Deporte Los Che will appeal the decision before the Professional Football League's (LFP) Competition Committee using video evidence to show that their custodian had been struck by a small object, believed to be a coin, rendering his booking unjust.
