For once, all is well with the Chinese
national team and coach Gao Hongbo is confident that China can almost qualify
for the 2011 Asian Cup by defeating Lebanon in Hangzhou on Sunday.
Victory against the West Asians would put China five points clear of Vietnam in third place with two games remaining.
China defeated Lebanon 2-0 in Beirut a week ago and are ready to attack to get the three points at home – even without Celtic’s Zheng Zhi.
“In the away match, our play was largely affected by the drenched pitch,” said Gao according to the-afc.com.
“At home, we will display our creativity in offence and there’s no excuse why we can’t claim a victory.
“Based on our strength, qualification is not a problem at all. We must have confidence in ourselves and play our best football in every match.
“With the experience gained from the away match against Lebanon, I believe the home game will be much easier. We must play fluid football on Sunday to reward the fans.
“I will let more players have a feel of playing in a continental level match. The low temperature might be a problem, but my players will be able overcome it.”
