Although he has a catalogue of problems to cope with, Doctor James DeBritz is confident that the Lionceaux star can return to the game.
“Charles will require a long convalescence,” he said, according to the AFP news agency.
“His bone and muscle will require lengthy treatment for them to recover. His health, his age and his attitude should help achieve a positive outcome.”
Davies had suffered injuries to his face, bladder, left elbow and right leg in the accident, which took place in Washington during October’s international break. It is estimated that his injuries will take between six and 12 months to overcome, yet the New Hampshire-born ace seems upbeat.
“I would like to thank all those and all those who have spent time caring for me so that I can find my form as an individual and as an athlete,” Davies explained via a statement.
“My condition is improving day by day and I look forward to walking again in order to start my rehabilitation.”
Davies only signed for Sochaux in the summer, having previously excelled at Swedish club Hammarby. He had a promising start to life in Ligue 1, scoring twice in six starts and two appearances from the bench.
