Teams

WORST XI

Formation: 5-3-2

Goalkeeper

Emiliano Viviano (Bologna): The player, co-owned by Inter, looked extremely nervous against the Nerazzurri, perhaps too eager to impress. He was beaten three times and struggled to deal effectively with anything Jose Mourinho’s side threw at him.

Defence

Maicon (Inter): His performance was mediocre and the red card he picked up in the closing minutes for needlessly arguing with the officials could, more importantly, mean he will miss the pivotal early December clash with Juventus.

Daniele Ficagna (Siena): The 28-year-old needlessly gave away a penalty to Atalanta, which was converted by Robert Acquafresca, killing off the game. An unforgivable act that sees his team remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A standings.

Daniele Portanova (Bologna): While many defenders have succumbed to the talents of Diego Milito, Mario Balotelli and Samuel Eto’o, this man made it too easy for them as he lost them on a number of occasions - notably on the opening goal when the Argentine pounced.

Kakhaber Kaladze (Milan): The Georgian looked absolutely lost on the pitch on Sunday afternoon. On one of the Rossoblu’s goals he was dispossessed in his own area! If our worst XI had a “captain” then Kaladze would be wearing the armband this week.

Manuel Pasqual (Fiorentina): While there was plenty of excitement between Parma and Fiorentina, the Viola full-back was nowhere to be found. He failed to get involved and did little to deal with the threats of Cristian Zaccardo and Davide Lanzafame on his flank.

Midfield

Luciano (Chievo): The veteran showed a lack of discipline by getting a second bookable offence before half-time. He left his team with ten men against Sampdoria, which proved to be their undoing.

Felipe Melo (Juventus): When purchased, no one would have thought the Brazilian international would be a weak link for the Bianconeri this season, but so far that has been the case. He made far too many errors and was hooked early in the second-half.

Alberto Zapater (Genoa): The Spaniard is supposed to provide a spark in midfield, but there was no electricity in his performance and as a result the Grifoni struggled to create chances and lost in Livorno.

Attack

Fabio Quagliarella (Napoli): The Partenopei have not seen a return for the nearly €20 million they invested in the Italian. Another anonymous performance against Lazio and has recent omission from the Italian national team reflect his out-of-form status.
