Tunisia Coach Coelho Wants Sofiane Chahed To Gain African Experience
The Portuguese gaffer has selected the German-based player for the first time but is unlikely to use him in Nigeria.

Tunisian national team coach Humberto Coelho surprised a
great deal of analysts with his selection of Hannover’s Sofiane Chahed for the
upcoming World Cup qualifier versus Nigeria, considering the
fact that the player has never represented the North African nation.
However, the Portuguese trainer made it clear in his press conference yesterday that the right-back, who used to represent Germany at youth level, would be an important addition to the squad in the future.
Coelho went on to say that Chahed was primarily called up so that he could travel with the team to Nigeria and familiarise himself with an African setting.
“He’s a player with many qualities and I think that he’s a player that, maybe now or in the future, can be a very good player and can be very useful to the national team. We’re going to bring him here to see him play now because we don’t have many matches left,” he explained.
“Also, I want him to adapt a bit to Africa. As you know, our players who compete in Europe and who live in Europe don’t have many opportunities to get used to the playing conditions in Africa.”
