Former Italy coach Dino Zoff has criticised Marcello Lippi for the way he weathered the storm following the 3-2 win over Cyprus on Wednesday night.
Lippi blasted a section of fans who expressed disappointment with the team that played at the Ennio Tardini. The coach was lively in his post-match actions, and sharp-tongued in his views regarding the support in Parma.
While the coach received praise from his supporters, many have lobbied against his behaviour, and Zoff is another who has condemned Lippi's actions with fierce opposition.
"I don't think Lippi can allow himself to be so arrogant," Zoff told Radio Radio.
"The public have the right to invoke players, and it's down to you as coach to distance yourself from it with a certain education."
Zoff, who almost led Italy to glory in Euro 2000, continued his harsh assessment of Lippi, suggesting the coach lacks class.
"The coach has to follow the league, and he has his ideas of the national team. I don't want to tell him who to pick, but he should take his ideas forward with class," concluded the Italian.
