Italy coach Marcello Lippi has denied claims that he advised France coach Raymond Domenech on how to beat Ireland.

Les Bleus clash with Giovanni Trapattoni's side on November 14 and 18, and a World Cup place is riding on the double-header.

Reports suggested Domenech had asked Lippi for information when the men were seen together at the San Siro last week for the game between Milan and Real Madrid. However, the Nazionale coach has denied the claims.

"Domenech did not ask me for advice about Ireland," Lippi told L'Equipe.

"Arrigo Sacchi was sitting in between myself and Domenech in the stands, and Alberto Zaccheroni was also next to me. We were four, all close to each other.

"However, my French is rusty and I didn't speak to Domenech. I just wished him good luck.'"

La Nazionale play the Netherlands and Sweden in friendlies over the course of the next few days.
