Ivory Coast appeared to be on their way to a 2-1 away win against Germany on Wednesday, but Lukas Podolski scored a late equaliser to level the game. Goal.com spoke with Ivory Coast defender Guy Demel after the match.

"We can't really be satisfied with this draw," he told Goal.com. "We shouldn't have allowed Germany to score that late goal. However, altogether a draw was a fair result.

"Germany are ahead of us as a team. You can't say that it's a bad result for us to draw an away game against a strong opponent such as Germany.

"I'm not sure whether we can make it to the quarter-finals in South Africa. Firstly, we need to do better than last time at the World Cup finals and make it through the group stage," the Hamburg defender continued.

"If we succeed to qualify for the knock-out phase, anything is possible for Ivory Coast from there on."
