Teams
Howard: 7.0 - His defence didn’t do him many favours but he made some decent saves to keep the score down, particularly from Kaka just after the break.
Bornstein: 6.0 – Had some shaky moments and was a little unlucky that his deflection helped Maicon’s shot beat Howard for the third goal.
Demerit: 5.0 - The Watford skipper was frequently outclassed and struggled to cope with Robinho and Kaka.
Oneywu: 5.0 - An error-strewn display. Booked early on for a foul on Melo and might have had a second for fouling Robinho. Also survived a penalty claim after appearing to push Miranda.
Spector: 4.0 - Had a torrid afternoon, beaten by Melo for the goal and couldn’t keep up with Robinho for the second. Almost made it a hat-trick when Silva outjumped him before half-time but the former Gunner headed over.
Beasley: 5.0 – An awful mistake saw him give the ball away in his own half allowing Brazil to romp away and score their second. Hooked at the break.
Kljestan: 4.0 - Came into the side for the suspended Clark but may have wished he had remained on the bench. A poor showing which culminated in a red card for a foul on Ramires.
Bradley: 5.5 - Ramires' direct running troubled him and he conceded the free kick for the opener.
Dempsey: 6.0 - Didn’t lack for effort, and better after the break, but saw very little of the ball.
Donovan: 6.5 - The skipper found it difficult to get into the game but supplied two great free kicks late on which the USA ought to have converted.
Altidore: 5.0 - Almost anonymous, largely due to a lack of support, but a disappointing showing. Had a great chance just after the break which he rushed and fired off target.
Substitutes
Casey: 6.5 - Came on at half-time and set up Altidore immediately for a decent chance.
Feilhaber: 6.5 - The substitute was unlucky not to score after hitting the bar with a super effort.
BRAZIL
Julio Cesar: 6.0 - A virtual spectator for the whole game and had practically nothing to do.
Maicon: 8.5 – A cracking display by the full back. Set up the opening goal and also made a great chance for Gilberto Silva. Made and finished the third and was always a threat.
Lucio: 7.0 - The skipper cruised through the game and a cheeky backheeled clearance just before half-time simply proved how comfortable he was.
Miranda: 7.0 - Only his second cap but a comfortable afternoon and he was rarely troubled.
A Santos: 7.0 – His first cap and a decent display by the young full back. Did well to dispossess Donovan early on and ventured forward more as the game wore on.
Gilberto Silva: 6.5 – Very comfortable in midfield but should have scored with a header before half time which he put over the bar.
Felipe Melo: 7.5 - Headed home the opener for his second international goal and might have had a second but couldn’t find the target.
Ramires: 7.5 - In for Elano and his runs forwards caused all sorts of problems, set up the second goal.
Kaka: 7.0 - Almost scored a great goal after running from his own half but hit the side-netting. Forced Howard into a great save after the break and involved in the third goal.
Luis Fabiano: 6.5 – Had a couple of attempts, but didn’t make the most of them and failed to trouble Tim Howard in the US goal.
Robinho: 8.0 - Looked bright, tucked away the second nicely and had a number of other chances but had to settle for just one goal.
Substitutes
Baptista: 6.0 - Wasted a good chance from a free kick late on.
Nilmar: 6.5 - Denied a tap in by Oneywu late on.
Luisao: 6.0 - Ensured Lucio had a break.
