The 26-man pool of players that joined up for pre-tournament training was cut to 24 at the weekend following the departure of Danny Landzaat and Sander Boschker, meaning that one more player had to be shed before the final deadline.

It has now announced that it will be Boulahrouz, the Chelsea-contracted defender who spent last season as a fringe man at Primera División side Sevilla FC.

Boulahrouz, who represented the Oranje at the 2006 World Cup, was only called up to the current squad as a replacement for Clarence Seedorf, who withdrew from international football under Van Basten.

The 26-year-old was in a head-to-head battle with Wigan Athletic stopper Mario Melchiot for the final place in the 23-man squad, but despite taking part in a recent friendly with Ukraine, Khalid misses out.

Next up for the Oranje is a friendly with Denmark on Thursday, and then on Sunday they will tarvel to Swtizerland for some last-minute, pre-Euro 2008 training.

The final squad:

Goalkeepers: Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax Amsterdam), Henk Timmer (Feyenoord)

Defenders: Wilfred Bouma (Aston Villa), Tim de Cler (Feyenoord), John Heitinga (Ajax Amsterdam), Joris Mathijsen (Hamburger SV), Mario Melchiot (Wigan Athletic), Andre Ooijer (Blackburn Rovers)

Midfielders: Ibrahim Afellay (PSV Eindhoven), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Feyenoord), Orlando Engelaar (Twente Enschede), Nigel de Jong (Hamburg SV), Wesley Sneijder (Real Madrid), Rafael van der Vaart (Hamburger SV), Demy de Zeeuw (AZ Alkmaar)

Forwards: Ryan Babel (Liverpool), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Ajax Amsterdam), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Real Madrid), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Real Madrid), Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (Celtic).
