"We hadn't decided a match before the break for a while, so it was good to seal the deal before the interval against NEC," Afellay said about Sunday's 4-0 home win against the Nijmegen side.
"We are clearly on the right track at the moment. It's normal that things are not going smooth all the time, but things have been going pretty much as planned for us this term," said the playmaker to Sportweek.
"The arrival of Andre Ooijer and Orlando Engelaar has been quite important for the team. They're really influential both on and off the pitch and tell everybody to take his responsibilities.
"We have a number of really good players in our team who are always eager to get the ball. That makes it so much easier to dominate a game. It's a pleasure to play with Engelaar and Ottman Bakkal in midfield," he concluded.
