Van Marwijk decided to add some fresh blood to his squad after the withdrawal of playmaker Wesley Sneijder. The Inter midfielder picked up an injury last Friday and is not fit enough to play on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Bakkal has been one of the surprises of the Eredivisie season. The attacking midfielder was mainly warming the bench last term, but has developed into a key member at PSV under new coach Fred Rutten.
Bakkal has scored seven league goals in 12 league appearances this season and set up several others. He's best know for his intelligent movement off the ball and his calm finishing skills.
The PSV midfielder represented Holland at the Under-21 level several times and was part of the Jong Oranje squad that was crowned European Champions in 2007.
