Sebastian Abreu has officially joined Greek club Aris Salonica after a brief stint at Real Sociedad of Spain.
Abreu, who took part in Uruguay's recent World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Venezuela, decided to take up the Greek option and he will be presented as the latest signing of Aris in the next few days.
The striker agreed to a one-year deal with the Salonica-based club. When his contract expires he is likely to return to Nacional of Montevideo, a club who he has played for twice already.
Aris will be the sixteenth team the Uruguayan international has played for in his career. Some of these clubs have been Deportivo La Coruna, River Plate, San Lorenzo, Defensor Sporting, Gremio and Club America.
Abreu, 32, will be reunited with former Nacional teammates Alejandro Lembo and Mario Regueiro at Aris. The three players also played together during the 2002 World Cup in Japan/Korea.
Aris, who finished in 6th position of the Greek Super League, have attracted a number of big names this season, including Leandro Gracian from Boca Juniors.
According to the Uruguayan press Abreu is looking forward to making a name for himself in Greece.
