Tottenham lost their last game of the season 2-0 to Liverpool to finish the season a disappointing eleventh place in the league after a poor end to the season.

Speaking after the game the Spurs coach admitted that the team hadn’t performed as well as they might after beating Chelsea to take the Carling Cup in February.

Ramos said: “I think we maybe did suffer after the Carling Cup success, maybe we achieved our target too soon.”

Despite blaming the Carling Cup for his side’s poor league form, the players did parade the trophy around White Hart Lane at the end of the match.

Their eleventh place finish actually sees the North London club finish the season in the bottom half of the league - where they have been all season - with only one win in their least six games.

However, after defeat to Liverpool, Ramos was also quick to praise the Reds, and in particular his compatriot Fernando Torres.

Speaking about the striker, Ramos said: “I think you have to give all the credit to Torres. He has had a great season and although he had a bit of space for the goal, he has played well.”

Torres hit his 24th league goal of the season to make it 2-0 at White Hart Lane after Andriy Voronin had opened the scoring for the visitors after being put through by the Spaniard. Torres also saw another chance hit the cross bar as the visitors ran out comfortable winners in North London.
