Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has finished cutting the wage bill at Ewood Park and will now concentrate on potential new signings.

The Lancashire club have allowed strikers Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire to move to Manchester City and Olympiakos respectively, making almost £22 million in transfer fees.

The Rovers boss is now reportedly on the look out for a new striker to bolster the attacking firepower at the club and, after having an approach for Bolton Wanderers' Kevin Davies turned down, he must now turn his attentions to other targets.

The Rovers boss explained the current situation at Ewood park, claiming that he does have money to spend.

Speaking to Lancashire Telegraph, Allardyce said, "We don't need to sell anybody else now.

"We've put the financial side right and I've got some funds to spend.

"I won't be able to sign as much as I can get, though. It will stop somewhere along the line.

"But for me, I will never stop asking for football players, even though the club or John [Williams] might say that's it.

"If a better player comes along, I will try to persuade the club to get him in.

"Sometimes, you can do your business and all of a sudden something appears that you never expected to appear.

"Then I've got to try to convince the club that it's the right thing to do, even if it means going above what they expected or wanted to do, because this player would be so good for Blackburn.

"If that means trading again, I would have to look at that option."

Young Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo is thought to be on Allardyce's wish list, with the 54-year-old pondering a loan move for the 20-year-old Argentine striker.
