Adelaide United are confident of turning their season around when they host Gold Coast United at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow night.

The Reds find themselves in eighth place on the table, thanks largely to an indifferent run of form at home, which has seen them win just three from eight games at Hindmarsh.

But coming off an international break, The Reds have a chance to start afresh and Coach Aurelio Vidmar is optimistic that tomorrow night’s crucial home game can be the launching pad to his team’s rise up the table.

“We know we’ve been inconsistent," Vidmar said. "Are we happy about it – absolutely not.

"We should be filthy about it, which we are, so we just need to make sure our second half of the season is very good.

“I certainly feel last week and especially this week that the mindset has shifted.

"It has been a tremendous week on the track, everyone really focused…it has been very good, very positive.

"They [the players] are aware of some areas that we’re failing in and also aware of some of the good things that we’re doing so it’s now about finding that balance.”

Finding the back of the net has been one of the areas of concern for The Reds this season with just 12 goals so far.

Despite the continual focus on United’s lack of potency up front, Vidmar is extremely upbeat that his charges can start to click in attack.

“They (the players) know it hasn’t been good enough in front of goal…we’ve played some good football, we just haven’t finished,” Vidmar said.

“The last couple of weeks we’ve changed it up a little bit and got them a bit more refreshed and we’ve worked quite hard on finishing and making sure we’re doing that under pressure and it has worked quite well.

"Now it’s about making sure we translate what we’ve done at training onto the pitch.”

Gold Coast Threat

Vidmar knows the season’s early pace setters will be no walkover, after they returned to winning ways with an impressive 1-nil victory over an in form Sydney FC in their last outing.

“You could see that they’re starting to get back into their groove,” Vidmar said of Gold Coast United.

“Certainly the first few rounds of the season they were in awesome touch and they probably lost their way a little bit, but I still feel they have got a lot of quality and depth right across that team.

"They’re certainly going to be hard to beat, [but] are they unbeatable – absolutely not.”
